S.T.O.P

S.T.O.P: Stop The “Ouch!” Please is organized to increase the awareness of women under domestic and dating violence to youths and to raise funds for these victims. In addition, this event is also used as a platform to celebrate the end of the Fringe Festival, which is held one week before a “Violence Against Women” conference. The Fringe Festival is held in Ngee Ann Polytechnic to educate the students and to publicize the conference. Our event also celebrates the end of the conference, acting as a post-conference party, as if symbolically putting an end to the sufferings of women who face violence at home.

This event was sparked off by a level 2 Interdisciplinary module “Innovation & Enterprise in Action”, whereby we came up with an idea to hold a party for youths. However, we decided to make it a more meaningful event by collaborating with a group of students who are also working on the same cause, Violence against women, and to donate our profits to the two organizations that the school is actively working with, PAVe.

Theme: "Violence Against Women".
Please take note that this is an open category talent competition. Participants of each team can be from different schools or external individuals so long as you meet our participant criteria. Participants must also be 18 years old and above as at 276h November 2009.

Time: 10am to 12pm
Audition Fees: FREE!!!
Closing date of registration: 13th November.
Audition dance item: 2-5 mins choreography according to our theme.

Teams that are interested should send us a confirmation email along with their particulars at stoptheouchplease.dance@gmail.com.

Participants are required to:

1) Come up with a 2-5 minute choreography according to our theme.
2) Register with us to get an audition slot [On first come first serve basis]
3) To register, simply send us an e-mail expressing your interest in competing at stoptheouchplease.dance@gmail.com

Closing date of registration will be on the 13th November 2009.

Participants' Criteria:

Age limitations: 18 and above
Size: Maximum of 8 dancers per team.
Genre: Not restricted as long as it adheres to the theme.

Dancers who make it into the FINALS will be granted FREE entry into the local and prestigious club!

All revenue generated from the event itself will be given as charitable funding to the organisation PAVe (Centre for Providing Alternatives to Violence) to support their noble cause. Thus, we hope to educate the public as well as to spread social awareness on this issue!
